Location, Location, Location - Part 1

When you are looking for a location to host your wedding, what are you looking for?  I have started to come up with a list of ideas for where ours could be hosted, but it is hard the small town I live in.  I am having to come up with unique ideas.

Church/Synagogue/Religious House
Depending on your religious affiliation, this is the most obvious choice for most couples.  This option is one of the most affordable and if you are having your wedding near a major holiday, it is likely the venue will already be decorated for you.  It is still expected that a donation will be made to the organization and the officiant may want you to go through counseling or have other criteria before you can use their building.

Wedding Chapel
We have a couple wedding chapels near my city that I have considered for our wedding and reception.  The best thing about these venues is they tend to have packages that include almost everything you are going to need from flower to table linens and sometimes even the cake and dj.  The down side to this is they may limit the vendors you can choose from and the options of what you can do at your wedding.

Park
One of my best friends was married this past summer at a local park.  It was a very pretty spot just in front of a waterfall with plenty of flowers planted all around it.

The Wedding Entrance

Of course I had to post this video here! This clip has been an internet sensation as this couple chose to have their wedding party dance down the aisle, much to the entertainment of the audience and everyone online. It really captures the spirit of a fun ceremony to celebrate a happy occasion in the life of the couple. That is what a wedding is about, after all.

Are you planning a grand entrance to your wedding? Or perhaps just the traditional one? I don't think I want to have the traditional wedding march at my ceremony, but I am not sure that any of my prospective wedding party has much dancing talent. I imagine the rehearsal the night before this performance was quite interesting as well. Share your fun entrance ideas in the comments!

UPDATE: I just found out that there is a parody video of a divorce as well! Oh dear!

Seasons Come & Go

As you think about themes and wedding planning, the season and the time of year plays a big part in making plans.  So what time of year do you consider to be perfect?

Spring is the season of new beginnings, and could be a perfect time of year to start a new family.  Spring to me brings forth images of newly budding leaves, light breezes, and the delicate fragrance of spring blooms.  I have considered an outdoor wedding in the spring.  Of course, this also means I'll need a good contingency plan for rain.

Summer should be spelled F-U-N!  All of the kids are out for the summer and relatives are usually ready to travel during the great summer months.   If you are thinking about a beach wedding, summer is generally the month to have it in!  The water gets to be just the right temperature for everyone to enjoy.  Summer tends to be the most popular season to get married in, which may mean higher prices with some of the vendors.

I love the rich colors of Fall.  Harvest season is a great time to utilize natural decor such as apples and rustic containers.  It's also the perfect time of year for some great outdoor wedding photos!  Timing is critical though.  Plan it too late and the weather may turn cold.

A winter wedding is something I've only just recently considered.  As the weather gets colder and colder in my area, we actually had our first snowfall of the year.  This made me dream of a nice log cabin wedding with lots of white and rustic charm.  I would love to have a wedding near a large fireplace to keep me warm.

Which season of the year is your ideal time to get married?
